Schwencke, Councilman The minutes of a regular meeting held January 7, 1957, at 3:00 - p.m, in the Village office located in the North Palm Beach Country Club were • approved on motion of Vice-?3ayor Ross, seconded by Councilman White, all - - members voting aye. Mayor Cunningham reported further conversations vrith the repre- sentative of residents in an area east of Lake Worth who are considering -- making a request their properties be annexed to the Village of North Palm Beach. The group requested the Council consider making police, fire and - garbage collection service available temporarily on a cost-of-operation basis pending annexation. The matter of appointment of a Village Sudge was discussed by the Council. . It was determined to hold the matter in abeyance until the next regular meeting at which time candidates for the position would be considered. The Council discussed the need for street lighting within the Village and _-. requested the Village Manager to make inquiry as to the types of equipment available ' and the cost of a system installation. The Village P4anager reported an offer of the Town of Riviera Beach to make their jail facilities available to Chief of Police Dudden in time of need. The Council _ requested the Village Manager acknowledge this offer and thank the Town for its cooperation. ' - The Council discussed the need for regulating certain classes of employees __ within the Village through registration and fingerprinting by the Police Depar~nent. The matter was held in abeyance pending a report by the Village Manager as to the cost . of installing and operating such a system within the Police Department, and the proba- , bility of its enforcement becoming self-sufficient. Page r1 ~J The matter of the need r'or requiring persons owning or having custody of any dog within the Village to obtain a police department permit for such dog was discussed by the Council. Upon motion of Vice-Mayor Ross, seconded by Councilman White, all members voting aye, the Village Attorney was requested to ' draw up an ordinance requiring dogs within the Village to be licensed and issued a dog license tag. Prior to the issuance of a dog license evidence that the dog has been inoculated for rabies will be required. Vice-Mayor Ross proposed the need for a village zoning ordinance and recommended the Council contact Mr. George W. Simons, Jr., Planning and Zoning Consultant, Jacksonville, regarding the matter. The Council requested Mayor Cunningham and Vice-Mayor Ross discuss the proposal with 24r. Simons. Mayor Cunningham announced he had been advised the construction of the V111age Hall was nearly complete and that future meetings of the Council would be held in the new chamber.
