Ordinance 1982-019 Amends Section 6-75, 6-76, 6-79 & 6-80w
ORDINANCE N0. 19-82
AN ORDINANCE OF THE VILLAGE OF NORTH PALM BEACH, FLORIDA,
AMENDING SECTIONS 6-75, 6-76, 6-79 and 6-80 OF THE VILLAGE CODE BY
REPEALING THE REQUIREMENT FOR CONTRACTORS TO POST A $2,000 SURETY
BOND, AND REPEALING SECTION 6-80(c) TO PERMIT AN OWNER OF A
' RESIDENCE IN THE VILLAGE OF NORTH PALM BEACH TO REPAIR, ALTER OR
ADD TO HIS OWN RESIDENCE WITHOUT LIMITATION,
BE IT ORDAINED BY THE VILLAGE COUNCIL OF NORTH PALM BEACH,
FLORIDA:
Section 1, That Section 6-75 (b) of the Village of North
Palm Beach Code is hereby amended to read as follows:
"Sec. 6-75. Certification.
"(b) When a certificate holder presents his
certificate to the Village building department,
accompanied by the requisite fee for the applicable
occupational license, he shall be entitled to
obtain an occupational license providing he presents
evidence of public liability insurance gn amounts
not less than one hundred thousand dollars
($100,000)/three hundred thousand dollars ($300,000)
and five thousand dollars ($5,000) property damage,
showing the interest of the Village, as it may
appear. If the county board requires public liability
insurance in amounts equal to or in excess of the
above amounts, covering the Village as its interest
may appear, and so notifies the Village building
department, the Village shall not require a
duplication thereof."
Section 2. That Section 6-76(a) of the Village of North Palm
Beach Code is hereby amended to read as follows:
"Sec. 6-76.
"(a) The occupational license of any contractor.
shall be automatically suspended should the required
insurance lapse or be canceled for any reason."
Section 3. That Section 6-76(c)(7)_of the Village of North
Palm Beach Code is hereby amended to read as follows:
"Sec. 6-76(c)(7).
"(7) Failure to maintain insurance coverage
as may be required by ordinance of law."

Section 4. That Sections 6-79(a), (b) and (c) of the Village
of North Palm Beach Code are hereby amended to read as follows:
"Sec. 6-79 Insurance requirements.
"(a) Any contractor covered by this article
shall be required to maintain at all times, with
an insurance company authorized to do business in
the state, employers liability insurance or
workmen's compensation insurance, and public
' liability insurance with minimum limits on each
of not less than one hundred thousand dollars
($100,000) for one person, three hundred thousand
dollars ($300,000) for more than one person in any
one accident, and public property damage insurance
with a minimum limit of not less than five thousand
dollars ($5,000) for any one accident."
"(b) In the event of a cancellation of a policy
or policies of any contractor covered by this
article, the license of such dontractor shall
automatically be revoked. The license may be
reinstated by the secretary of the Village board
when the licensee has furnished certificates of
insurance in compliance with this section,"

Section 5. That Section 6-80(a)(6)(g) of the Village of North

Section 6. That Section 6-80(c) of the Village of North Palm
Beach Code is hereby repealed.
This Ordinance shall take effect immediately upon passage.
