HomeMy WebLinkAbout08-03-2004 VC SP-M• • Present: ROLL CALL MINUTES OF THE SPECIAL MEETING OF THE VILLAGE COUNCIL OF NORTH PALM BEACH, FLORIDA HELD TUESDAY, AUGUST 3, 2004 Donald G. Noel, Mayor Dr. Edward M. Eissey, Vice Mayor Charles R. O'Meilia, President Pro Tem David B. Norris, Councilman Robert F. Rennebaum, Councilman Doug Smith, Assistant Village Manager Kathleen F. Kelly, CMC, Village Clerk Mayor Noel called the meeting to order at 7:00 p.m. All members of Council were present. The Village Clerk and Assistant Village Manager were present. RESOLUTION 43-2004 ADOPTED — APPOINTING ACTING VILLAGE MANAGER Vice Mayor Eissey moved that Resolution 43-2004 entitled: A RESOLUTION OF THE VILLAGE COUNCIL OF THE VILLAGE OF NORTH PALM BEACH, Florida, APPOINTING DOUG SMITH TO SERVE AS ACTING VILLAGE MANAGER; AND, PROVIDING FOR AN EFFECTIVE DATE Be adopted. Councilman Rennebaum seconded the motion, and all present voted aye. Remuneration for Mr. Smith in the capacity of Acting Village Manager will be considered at the next Regular Session to be held on August 12, 2004. VILLAGE MANAGER SEARCH Vice Mayor Eissey moved to authorize Consultant Colin Baenziger to conduct a statewide search for a new Village Manager. Councilman Norris seconded the motion. During discussion, Mr. Baenziger told the Council that he could have an ad for the position posted with the Florida League of Cities website, the Florida City & County Management Association web site, and Ken Small's newsletter to city managers around the state. Additionally, it will be placed in the Florida League of Cities datagram. Emphasis will be placed on candidates who have had experience with Public Safety Departments as well as municipal golf courses and/or Country Clubs. The Village Council hopes to conduct interviews by the second week of September, and asked Consultant Colin Baenziger to use the same process as was used for the last search, with the exception of a cocktail party.
