'" AN ORDINANCE OF THE VILLAGE COUNCIL OF THE VILLAGE OF NORTH PALM
BEACH, FLORIDA, AMENDING SECTION 2-85, DIVISIONS, OF DIVISION 6,
DEPARTMENT OF PUBLIC SERVICES, OF ARTICLE III OF CHAPTER 2,
ADMINISTRATION, OF THE CODE OF ORDINANCES OF THE VILLAGE TO DELETE
PARKS AS A DIVISION OF THE DEPARTMENT OF PUBLIC SERVICES; AMENDING
SECTION 2-110, DIRECTOR'S DUTIES, OF DIVISION 9, DEPARTMENT OF
RECREATION, OF ARTICLE III OF CHAPTER 2, ADMINISTRATION, TO PROVIDE THAT
THE DUTIES OF THE DIRECTOR OF RECREATION SHALL INCLUDE THE OPERATION
AND MAINTENANCE OF ALL VILLAGE PARKS; PROVIDING FOR SEVERABILITY;
PROVIDING FOR THE REPEAL OF ALL ORDINANCES OR PARTS OF ORDINANCES IN
CONFLICT HEREWITH; AND, PROVIDING FOR AN EFFECTIVE DATE.
BE IT ORDAINED BY THE VILLAGE COUNCIL OF NORTH PALM BEACH, FLORIDA:
Section 1. Section 2-85, Divisions, of Division 6, Department of Public Services, of Article III of
Chapter 2, Administration, of the Code of Ordinances of the Village is hereby amended to read as
follows:
"Section 2-85. Divisions.
The department of public services shall be divided under the director of public services into
the following divisions and bureaus and supervisors thereof:
(1) Division of permits and inspections, which shall issue all permits for, and inspect the
work involved in, the construction of sidewalks, curb cuts, street cuts; inspect all
work done under the provisions of the electrical, plumbing and building codes of the
village; and inspect all premises, including structures and appurtenances thereon, for
safety features.
(2) Division of facility maintenance, which shall repair and maintain all village owned
buildings, irrigation systems, street lights, parks, electrical, mechanical and plumbing
systems and custodial services (except the North Palm Beach Country Club.).
(3) Division of municipal garage, which shall operate the municipal public works
complex, and shall maintain and provide for village uses all automotive equipment
owned by the village.
(4) Refuse disposal division, which shall collect garbage and rubbish.
(5) Street mairaterzance division, which shall maintain and provide for adequate drainage
on all streets, sidewalks and bridges."
Section 2. Section 2-110, Director's Duties, of Division 9, Department of Recreation, of Article
III of Chapter 2, Administration, of the Code of Ordinances of the Village, is hereby amended to read
as follows:
"Section 2-110. Director's duties.
The director of recreation shall plan, promote, organize and supervise a comprehensive
municipal recreation program, and administer the same in the interest of the entire community, and
shall:
(1) Supervise recreation areas. Supervise the recreational use of playgrounds, play
fields, recreation centers, ball diamonds and such other recreation areas and facilities
as may be made available to carry out the village's recreation program.
(2) Conduct community activity. Conduct and supervise any form of recreational,
cultural or social activity that will employ the leisure time of the citizens in a
wholesome and constructive manner.
(3) Village parks. Operate and maintain all Village parks."
Section 3. If any section, paragraph, sentence, clause, phrase or word of this Ordinance is for any
reason held by a Court to be unconstitutional, inoperative or void, such holding shall not affect the
remainder of this Ordinance.
Section 4. All Ordinances or parts of Ordinances in conflict herewith are hereby repealed.
Section 5. This Ordinance shall take effect immediately upon passage.
