Our Village will receive national publicity and recognition during and after this event. We urge all residents to participate in and promote our Tencennial Program. Approximately 150 people, with the greatest majority being Village residents, have worked exceptionally hard to make this program possible. We ask and urge you to fly the Country's flag on the three days of this event and attend the church of your choice on Sunday, January 15. As you peruse through this Newsletter, you will note the schedule of various events during this gala weekend. During the week you will have delivered to your home a Tencennial booklet covering the various functions within our community. We hope that you will send additional booklets to your friends. Additional booklets will be available at the Village Hall and the Country Club at a cost of twenty-five cents each. We would like to thank each committee member, Village employees and organizations who have worked to make our Tencennial possible. Open North Palm Beach Merchants' Tencennial Celebration Sale. Open Boat Show and New Car Show at the North Palm Beach Marina area. LwLU 6 A Surfing Contest - Surfers are invited o enter the surfing contest at the Ship Amaryllis. There is no entry fee required and Doug Manske from the Juno Surf Shop will direct the competition. Trophies will be awarded. Entries must be registered by 5:00 p.m. Friday, January 13. Call Mrs. Anne Joslin at 848- 6202 for registration and information. Parade route: Start at Cinnamon Road and Lighthouse Drive, east on Lighthouse Drive to Anchorage Drive, south then east on Anchorage Drive to Eastwind Drive: north on Eastwind Drive past Village Hall, Dispersal at school and church parking areas on Eastwind Drive. High School Band Concert, area bands combined on Village Hall steps. Notable area musician conducting. Planting of Tencennial Tree by North Palm Beach Garden Club and award of recognition plaque. Area churches to hold special services for Tencennial event, all residents urged to attend church. Mayor and the Village Council to attend the First Presbyterian Church in North Palm Beach on Prosperity Farms Road. Sail Boat Race in the lake between the Marina and the Island - open to Village residents and other sailing enthusiasts. For entry information call 848-9648. 12:30 p.m. Award of placque to Senior Social Shuffleboard Club at Shuffleboard Courts. 1:00 p.m. All golf trophies to be awarded at North Palm Beach Country Club. Tennis Exhibition at North Palm Beach Country Club. Shuffleboard Tournament - Senior Social Clubhouse. 1:30 p.m. Award sail boat trophies at North Palm Beach Marina. TENCENNIAL NEWS COVERAGE The Tencennial Celebration will be covered by Palm Beach County Sun -Press, Palm Beach -Post -Times, Channel 5, Channel 12 as well as other news media throughout the County. REGISTRATION FOR BALLET Registration for the third period of ballet classes is scheduled below. In order to continue the ballet classes without interruption and to avoid confusion with the new registraxirg, registration blanks will be distributed to students the week of January 23, 1967, to be returned with tuition the week of Monday, January 30 through Friday, February 3. NEW REGISTRATIONS AND LATE RE -REGISTRATIONS ARE SCHEDULED FOR: Wednesday, February 1, 1967 - 1:00 to 3:00 p.m. Friday, February 3 - 1:00 p.m. to 3:00 p.m. Monday, February 6 - 1:00 to 3:00 p.m. 7:00 to 9:00 p.m. Third period starts Monday, February 6. Second period ends Monday, January 30 Tuesday, January 31 Wednesday, February 1 Friday, February 3 REGISTER EARLY TO BE. ASSURED A PLACE IN THE BALLET CLASSES; NORTH PALM BEACH GARDEN CLUB At the December meeting, the North Palm Beach Garden Club members voted to send $2.50 to the Library for the subscription, "Florida Wild Life" magazine; also t.o plant a. ten year old tree in January for the Village Tencennial. The next meeting will be held January 11, 1967 at the Senior Social Building. Mrs. James F. Kerwin will present a program on corsages. All women interested in the Garden Club are welcome to attend. NORTH PALM BEACH LIBRARY During the year 1966, 1,560 books were added to the Library collection. Of these 878 were donations. This means'a decided growth in Library serviee to the community, both adults and children. 843 new members were regis- tered. The Library hours are 9:30 - 5:30 Monday through Friday - 9:00 - 12:00 Saturday. It is also open 7:00 - 9:00 Tuesday and Thursday evenings. Beginning February 1, a charge of five cents will be added to overdue charges when a notice has to be mailed. This is to offset the time and expense which this procedure entails. DOG AND CAT REGULATIONS Department of Public Safety Director, Herb Kohl, requests that with the increase of new owners of dogs and cats within the Village, they be ad- vised that the ordinance on "Running at Large" reads as follows "It shall be unlawful for any owner to permit or allow any cat or dog kept, harbored, or otherwise maintained by him to run at large in the Village at any time. Any dog or cat which runs at large is hereby declared to be a public nuisance and such dog or cat shall be apprehended and impounded if found running at large by any Police Officer or other person charged with the enforcement of this ordinance." FLORIDA COMMISSION ON AGING This Commission has agreed to employ aging citizens in connection with the filling out of applications which involve automobile liability in- surance. Interested Senior Citizens in our community are requested to contact the office of the Village Manager for further information. . EAS , JR.
