BEACH ARTICLE II OBJECT: The object of this club shall be to promote an interest gardening, to co-operate in the pro tection in native trees and shrubs, and to �rcoera1en of wild flowers, birds, �, civic planting. ARTICLE III MEMBERSHIP: 1. Memberships shall consist of two classes, Active an d Associate, 2. Qualifications for Active Membership shall be: (a) Willingness to promote the aims and participate in the activities of the club. (b) To abide by the provisions of the Constitution and the By -Laws. (c) An active interest in horticulture and/or ownership of, or personal care of gardens. (d) Three consecutive absences unexcused by the Executive Board shall forfeit active membership. 3. Associate Members shall enjoy the privileges of the organization without esponsibthty of the work, but may not vote or hold office . They shall have preference in becoming Active Merber3. A.RTICL IV OFFICERS' 1. The officers of the org nization shall be President, Vice -President, Recording Secretary, Corresponding Secretary, and Treasurer. 2. The Annual Meeting for the election of officers shall be held at the time of the regular meeting in March. Officers elected at this meeting shall, assume duties of office upon conclusion of business at the regular meeting of the current year in June. 3. The term of elective office shall be one year, and no member shall be eligible to the same office for more than two (2) consecutive terms. ARTICLE V DUES: 1. Dues for Active Members shall be four dollars ($4.00) per year, of which one dollar ($1.00) shall be paid to the State Federation, and the remaining be retained in the Club Treasury. 2. Dues for Associate Members shall be ten dollars ($10) per year. 3. Dues for the following year are payable to the Treasurer at the APRIL meeting. Members of the Club who have not paid their fee by the MAY meeting shall be notified by the Treasurer in writing. Members failing to pay by the JIJN , meeting shall be automatically dropped from the membership list. ARTICLE VI AMENDMENTS: The Constitution may be amended at any annual June meeting by a two-thirds vote of the Active Members present and voting, provided written notice has been given at least two weeks previous to the time of the desired action. BY-LAWS ARTICLE I NOMINATIONS: At the February meeting, a Nominating Committee of three shall be appointed by the President, subject to the approval of the Executive Board. This Committee shall be composed of one member from the Executive Board, who shall act as Chairman, and two members from the Club at large. At the March meeting, this Committee shall present a list of candidates to be voted upon. Nominations may be made from the floor, providing the consent of the nominee has been previously obtained. ARTICLE II ELECTION OF OFFICERS: Where the e is but one candidate for an office, the election shall be by acclamation. Where there is more than one candidate for the same office, the election shall be by ballot and the majority vote of members present shall elect. 3. TrICLE III DUTIES OF OFFICERS: THE PRESIDENT shall preside at all meetings of the Club and of its Executive Board, shall call special meetings of the Club and Executive Board, and shall appoint chairmen of all special and standing committees. She shall be ex- officio a member of all standing and special committees, except the Nominating Committee. THE VICE-PRESIDENT shall assume the duties of the President in the absence of the President, and shall serve as the Program Chairman. THE RECORDING SECRETARY shall keep a record of all the proceeding of all meetings, and have charge of all papers pertaining to the office. She shall record the attendance at each meeting by roll call. THE CORRESPONDING SECRETARY shall send notices of all meetings of this orgainzation and shall conduct such correspondence as the President requests and keep a file of all important letters. ARTICLE IV DUTIES OF THE EXECUTIVE BOARD: 1. All vacancies among officers shall be filled for the unexpired term by the Executive Board. 2. The executive Board shall consist of the officers and chairmen of standing committees, and the Counselor, who is the immediate Past -President of the Club. Duties of the Executive Board shall consist of the management ent of the Club. The Board shall pass on the expenditure of all monies taken from the Club Treasury with the approval of the membership. A majority of the Board shall constitute a quorum of the Board. The Board shall maintain a Petty Cash Fund of $10.00 to be used at its own discretion. 3. The Standing Committees consist of the Parliamentarian and the Publicity Chairman. 4. The duties of the Parliamentarian shall be to be present at all meeting, be familiar with parliamentary rules and usages based upon Robert's Rules of Order, giving her advice and assist- ance whenever it is needed. 5. The duties of the Publicity Chairman shall be to furnish the press and radio with all information in regard to the activities of the Garden Club which will promote the purposes and interests of the Club. MEETINGS! IT , P' CT I' \I The regular meetings of the Club shall be held on the second Wednesday of each month, from Octcber throu0 June, at 9:30 a.m., at the FIF3 Senior Social Club Euilding. Meei:lt,gs of the Board shall be held on the first Wednesday of each month, from October through June, at 9t30 a.m., at a place designated by the President. ARTICLE VI SOLICITATIONS: Outside activities of solicitation by letter or by person shall be pzeserted first to the Board for ste.taT)le action. The North Palm Beach Garden Club shall have a perma-lent policy that they participate in Garden Club -type acti.yitles only. ARTICLE VIZ AIMIDMETTI S The By -Laws may be amended by a two-tbirds vote of members present and voting at any regular or specIrA meeting, pryvided notice of such proposed amendment has been given at a previous regular meeting. ARTICLE VIII PROCEDURE: Ai all times, the procedure during Club neetin3s and functions shall be governed by Robert's Rules of Order.
