DreamMaterializes For NP Rec. Center

It's been a dream for a
long time to have a first
class community center
in North Palm Beach.
Well, that dream came
true Thursday, May 6,
when village and build-
ing officials broke
ground for the Valerie
Delacorte Community
Center on Prosperity
Road, near Burns Road
at the north end of
North Palm Beach.
The center, expected
to open in February of
1983, will have 12,000
sq. ft. of space, designed
to enhance the gruoviiig
programs of one of the
villages most important,
aspects, Planned Cul-
tural and Recreational
Activities. The center
will be able to handle
many different events,
from basketball and vol-
ley ball games to lec-
tures and even theat-
rical performances, and
will be open to all
residents of the com-
munity.

acre site to allow for
building parking, field
parking and also have
allowances for future
expansion of recreation
facilities to the east
portion of the area. He
said there is a possiblity,
of a ball field and a
jogging trail to add on to
the presently planned
facilities.
George and Valerie
Delacorte, both North
Palm Beach residents,
realized a great need for
community facilities,
and with their generous
contribution of
$600,000.00 along with
the village funds of
$262,000 from a bond
issue, are making this
dream a reality.
