Building dedicated to former police chief
North Palm Beach officials recently dedicated its
public safety building to John Atwater. Mr. Atwater,
was police chief for almost 12 years. He was remem='
tiered in speeches by Mayor David Norris, Police Chief
Jimmy Knight and his son, Mike Atwater.
North Palm Beach police stopped traffic on July 13'
so that people attending the dedication could cross
the street to the fire station.
After the speeches, the crowd of approximately 100
followed Mr. Atwater's wife, Pat, and five of their six
children through the public safety building to see the
plaque and attend a reception.
The copper plaque hangs between the doors inside'
the building and notes his achievements.
