Newcomer ousts -year veteran
Political newcomer David Norris up-
N0ith Palm set 22-year incumbent Y.A. Marks, and
Beach incumbent Charles O'Meilia was returned
to the village council by a large margin
Tuesday. Norris, 38, making his second try
for the counc. defeated Marks, 74, with
51 percent of the vote. O'Mpilia, 74, de-
feated ex -council member Manny Grinn,
with &.1 percent of the vote. ('Meilia had
campaigned for timely- redevelopment of
the old Twin City Mall property at U.S. 1
and Northiake Boulevard and the annex-
ation of the nearby unincorporated com-
munities of Lost Tree Village, Portage
Landing and Hidden Key, Norris had called
for improvements at the North Palm
Beach Country Club, a better council atti-
tude toward businesses and closer scrutiny of the village
budget,
