HomeMy WebLinkAbout2003-02-21 Douglas Smith takes over as Interim Manager (WeekDay)NORTH PALM BEACH COUNCIL MEETING 2/13/03 NPBCC named `2002 Top 10 Facility' by National Golf Foundation Douglas Smith takes over as Interim Village Manager_._ By Denise Jaegers North Palm Beach Country Club Director David Talley addressed the Village Council during last Thursday's meeting, advising the NPBCC had just been selected as a "2002 Top 10 Facility in Overall Customer Loyalty & Satisfaction" in the Municipal Category of the National Golf Foundation program. "This award indicates that positive strides have been made in providing our members what they want, and as we continue to respond to their needs, our revenues and rounds will continue to increase," predicted Talley. "My thanks to all of the golf course personnel that contributed in making this award possible." Following Talley's presentation, Douglas Smith gave the Village Manager's Report, acting as Village Manager after Dennis Kelly resigned effective February 7. Sff ith will serve as Interim Village Manager during the interviewing and hiring process the Council must now contend with to replace Kelly, who departed under extremely stressful circumstances. In other action, Council: • Unanimously approved and Cv) O O n N 1 N CC CC CO 35`h Y ear No. 41 enacted second reading of an ordinance approving a commercial Planned Unit Development (PUD) upon certain property formerly known as the Twin City Mall, located in the C-3 Regional Business District. • Unanimously approved first reading of an ordinance amending the North Palm Beach General Fund budget for Fiscal Year 2002-2003 to appropriate $35,189 for various EMS equipment and training funded by Palm Beach County, Division of Emergency Management. • Unanimously approved first reading of an ordinance creating a new Section 45-35.3, Northlake Boulevard Overlay Zoning District (NBOZ) to Article III, District Regulations, of Appendix C, Zoning, of the Code .of Ordinances for the Village. • Unanimously approved first reading of an ordinance amending Section 45-16, Division of Village into Districts; Districts Enumerated, of Article II of Appendix C-Zoning of the Code by adding a new district known as the Northlake Boulevard Overlay Zoning District (NBOZ). • Unanimously adopted a CONTINUED ON PAGE 2 - DOUG SMITH is acting as Interim Village Manager, since Dennis Kelly's hasty departure February 7. Doug has been Assistant Village Manager for several years now, and is fully capable of manning the helm while the council takes the time to interview and hire a new Village Manager.
