COUNCIL MEETING SUMMARY
THURSDAY, DECEMBER 11, 2008
REGULAR SESSION
1. ORDINANCE 2008-19 — CODE AMENDMENT — RESIDENTIAL YARD WASTE COLLECTION establishes
requirements for collection of residential yard waste; provides for registration, enforceability, and cost assessment.
Council action: adopted on first reading; motion/second: Eissey/Aubrey.
Staff action: publish legal ad for 2nd reading on 1/8/09. (Clerk)
MAYOR AND COUNCIL MATTERS
Councilman Hernacki commended Mark Vadas and his crew for assisting with the window and door replacement
project at the Community Center.
MANAGER MATTERS
Notification of change order for Community Center project.
Golf Course grassing and refurbishment of Country Club entrance completed.
Paver brick commemorative program to be placed on 1/8/09 agenda.
WORKSHOP AGENDA
1. RESIDENTIAL YARD WASTE REMOVAL FEES Discussion concerning establishing residential yard waste
removal fees to be assessed for violations of Section 14-31 of the Code of Ordinances.
Council action: requested that resolution clarify that total per cubic yard is $44 minimum. Moved to Regular.
Staff action: revise resolution for adoption at 1/8/09 meeting. (Attorney)
2. BUS STOP BENCHES Discussion concerning the type of bus benches and funding sources.
Council action: approved "Malibu" recycled bench; requested that benches be retrofitted with one divider;
requested that property owners near the bus bench location be notified before the benches
are installed. Moved to Regular.
3. CODE AMENDMENT — SIGNS AND OUTDOOR DISPLAYS Discussion concerning a proposed ordinance
amending the sign code regarding ground signs, temporary signs, and political signs.
CLERK NEEDS COPY OF HANDOUT TO COUNCIL
Council action: consensus to incorporate Planning Commission changes to proposed ordinance and to place
on next Regular Session agenda for 1st reading.
Staff action: revise ordinance and prepare memo for 1st reading. (Manager/Attorney)
4. GOLF ADVISORY BOARD Discussion concerning appointments to the Golf Advisory Board.
Council action: consensus to amend Code to specify that 6 out of 7 positions be held by golf members. MGA
and WGA Boards will be asked to recommend a member to represent them on the Board
(not binding on Council.) Ordinance to be placed on next Regular agenda for 1st reading.
Staff action: prepare ordinance and memo for 1st reading on 1/8/09. (Manager/Clerk/Attorney)
