Mayor Manuel began the meeting at 10:50 a.m. Senator Bogdanoff introduced her staff, Laura Coburn
and Erin
Senator Bogdanoff discussed HB381, Property Assessment; Nonhomestead Increase Limitation
Reduction; New Homestead Owner's Additional Exemption, regarding the proposed reduction in the
assessment cap on nonhomestead property from 10% to 3%.
Senator Bogdanoff has sponsored SB1406, Local Effort School Property Tax/Sales Tax; which
provides for:
• 2.5 cent increase in the tax on sales, use, and other transactions
• revises brackets for calculating sales tax amounts
• provides for reservation and allocation of revenues from the additional 2.5 cent increase in the
tax rate
• deletes a requirement that a district school board levy the minimum millage rate necessary to
provide the district's required local effort
• revises the notice form relating to a district school board's proposed tax increase for required
local effort
Discussion ensued on the following topics:
• percentage of the Village's budget derived from ad valorem taxes
• red light cameras and right -on -red amendment
• pill mills
• pension reform
The meeting adjourned at 11:45 a.m.
