VILLAGE OF NORTH PALM BEACH
OFFICE OF THE MAYOR
FIREFIGHTER APPRECIATION MONTH
WHEREAS, through their daily service to communities and their dedication to the Muscular Dystrophy
Association, Village of North Pahn Beach Fire-Rescue, as part of Local 2928 Professional Firefighters
& Paramedics of Palm Beach County, contribute greatly to the well-being of all citizens; and
WHEREAS, for the past fifty-five years, firefighters tlu•oughout Florida and across the nation have been
a partner with the Muscular Dystroplry Association ui the fight against neuromuscular diseases; and
WHEREAS, firefighters statewide and nationally collected more than $26 million dollars in 2008 to
support MDA's life saving research, again making them MDA's largest source of funding; and
WHEREAS, in 2008, Village of North Palm Beach Fire-Rescue, as part of Local 2928, hit the streets
for MDA's Fill-the-Boot campaign, raising more than $120,000; and
WHEREAS, the funds collected by the Village of North Palm Beach Fire-Rescue assist MDA in
providing medical services at MDA Jupiter Medical Center Clinic, summer camp, research grants,
support groups, and public education seminars at no cost to Palm Beach County's children and adults
served by the Association; and
WHEREAS, the Muscular Dystrophy Association is extremely grateful to the Village of Noirth Palm
Beach Fire-Rescue for their support and dedication; and
WHEREAS, it is appropriate for all Palm Beach County citizens to jour the Muscular Dystrophy
Association vi payvlg tribute to our firefighters.
NOW, THEREFORE, I, David B. Norris, by virtue of the authority vested in me as Mayor of the
Village of North Palm Beach, do hereby proclaim the month of August, as
FIREFIGHTER APPRECIATION MONTH
in the Village of North Palm Beach, Florida.
FURTHER, I eonunend the Village of North Pahn Beach Fire-Rescue for its efforts on behalf of the
Muscular Dystrophy Association.
IN WITNESS WHEREOF, 1 have hereunto set my hand and caused the Seal of the Village of North
Palm Beach to be affixed this 23rd day of July, 2009.
