ABOUT AAUW
The American Association of University Women,
founded in 1881, is the oldest organization of its kind
for women in the United States. Today there are over
160,000 members in 1,750 branches across the country
dedicated to the promotion of equity for all women and
girls, promotion of lifelong education, and the
implementation of positive societal and community changes.
Locally, the Northern Palm Beach County Branch is an
active organization formed thirty-eight years ago.
Monthly general meetings are held on the third Monday of
each month at 7:30 p.m. with programs of current interest.
Special interest groups meet monthly on various
topics, such as Art at Tea Time, Evening Literary Group,
Women in Literature, and Dinner Club.
Interested women with degrees from accredited
colleges and universities may obtain either activity or
membership information from Lucille Wendel at 622-6708.
In principal and practice AAUW values and seeks a
diverse membership. There shall be no barriers to full
participation in this organization on the basis of gender,
race, creed, age, sexual orientation, national origin, or
disability.
AAUW provides the opportunity to use education to
make a difference.

AAUW EDUCATIONAL FOUNDATION
The founders of the American Association of
University Women believed that education is the key to
achieving equity for women of all ages, races, creeds, and
nationalities. Over the years AAUW has responded to the
changing needs of women, but this vision remains the
driving force for today's AAUW members, who raise more
than $2 million a year to support the AAUW Educational
Foundation.
The AAUW Educational Foundation has helped more than
Vantrease 6, 000 women reach their personal and professional goals
through a variety of fellowships and grants, including:
American Fellowships; Selected Professions Fellowships;
International Fellowships; Eleanor Roosevelt Teacher
Fellowships; Career Development Grants; and Community
Action Grants.
