Graduate Scholarships Announced by AAUWAA 1 Inaugurates I Work Plan A program of graduate study through which mature col-ege women may quali- fy themselves for teaching, research, or administra- tion in higher education will begin this Fall through a unique program of the Am- erican Association of Uni- versity Women Educational Foundation, according to Mrs. Edward Sharp, mem- ber of the North Palm Beach Branch, American Association of University Women. Financed by a $225,000 grant from the Rockef el ie r Brothers Fund, this nation- ally significant program will be initiated over a three year period in eleven southern states. Designed to add fully - qualified women to the na- tion's resources of colege faculty, the program will not only help to relie v e the acute shortage of trained college personnel, but will provide unusual opportun- ity for the mature woman to embark on a profession- al career in higher educ- ation. Some of the "stu- dents" accepted for the de- monstration will be wives and mothers whose family responsibilities are less- ened as their children reach high school or coll- ege age. Fields of study of the 1962-63 recipients who will begin their studies this fall in southern universities and colleges range from mathematics, psychology, and plant pathology to Eng- lish and home economics.
