Annual Report 1960 - 1961
In its second year, North Palms. Beach Branch has experienced
growth in rner-nibership as well as 9, sense of growth in aim and.
perspective.
A section of the Association By-laws was taken as a guide for
the years activities, "In keepingwith its purpose, the
Association shal.',- develop a prograri-, to enable college women to
continue their own intellectual growth, to further the advance-
meatof wQrien, and to discharge the special responsibilities to
society of those who have enjoyed the advantages of higher
education.

A new member reception and orientation program in Sueptember,
outlined study group plans and proposed pro,7,ra_r,-,s for the year.
In October, the Branch participated in a Cori--imunity United Nations
Program. Plans were forr-niulated for the Branch Book Bair.
A tea and panel discussion of liberal arts in higher education
was presented by members in IT.,overfiber to local '.Krigh School girls .
Discussion followed concerning fields of specialization,
curriculum, extra curriculoar activites, and careers,

countries was given in DeceT--ibe r
The January rneeting was held. at Sal Haven, International
Upholsterer's Union Retirement Community. Mrs. 1�,Tilliam Gillespie
Social !Service Director, was the speaker.

Association for Reta*trd-ea Children spoke at the February meeting.
A group discussion of the AAUW Legislative Program was presented
by the Legislative Chairmian in March,

to the membership,

recorded in the scrapbook of the K-Istorian. Candid pictures

The "Social Hour" following branch meetings has been the res-Qonsibilit7..
of the hospitality chairman. 11any irneTinibers participated by serving as
hostesses.
Several members attended the area luncheon in Ft, 'Lauderdale in Yoveinbc
