WITH FOUR HUNDRED
interested browsers wand-
ering around amidst the
graphic display of arts and
crafts, with the boutiques
all doing business, and with
a French cafe about to get
going, the North Palm
Beach Arts Society had a
successful "clothesline art
show" going for it last
Saturday, but ---
Then the rains came! . .
not in potfuls, or buckets,
but in hogsheads, a sheer
sheet of pelting drops, dri-
ven by gusts of sodden wind
to an obbligato of thunder
and lightning!
A storm! It was a deluge
-- - and there were the poor
artists skittering around,
doing their best to get their
precious works under
cover before ruination.
"It was," says Edward
Jacomo, director of the
North Palm Beach Art
school, and an advisor to
the society, "a disaster!"
Drenched but unintimi-
dated, the young people of
the art society are already
planning to re -stage the
show in all of its details,
clothesline art exhibit,
boutiques, french cafe and
all. There was a meeting
called for Tuesday night
to set the date and work
out the details.
``We will not give in!"
said one of the young wo-
men involved.
