A RESOLUTION OF THE VILLAGE COUNCIL OF NORTH PALM BEACH,
FLORIDA, DECLARING THE RESULTS OF THE GENERAL ELECTION HELD ON MARCH
18, 1969.
WHEREAS, on the 18th day of March, 1969, a General Election
was held in the Village of North Palm Beach, Florida for the purpose
of electing Councilmen to the Village Council for Groups 2, 3 and 4, and
WHEREAS, by due resolution the following named persons were
appointed Inspectors and Clerks of said election:
Precinct No. 48, Faith Lutheran Church:
Inspectors:
Mrs. Grete McBride
Mrs. Melba Phillips
Mrs. Lois Booth
Mrs. Faye Lucas
Clerk: Mrs. Elizabeth Redding
Precinct No. 49, North Palm Beach Elementary School:
Inspectors:
Mrs. Louise Nash
Mr. Ralph Cohn
Mrs. Mabel Cohn
Mrs. Lillian Drudi
Clerk: Mrs. Mary Jane Jenkins
and,
WHEREAS, on March 19, 1969 said Inspectors and Clerks, after
taking and subscribing their oaths in accordance with law, made their
returns to the Village Council, which returns certified that the follow-
ing are the results of said General Election, to -wit:
Total Machine Votes: 965
Total Absentee Votes: 13
For Village Councilman, Group 2: (2 year term)
J. Wilkins Smith received 132 votes
Marjorie N. Stevens received 139 votes
James E. Taylor received 256 votes
Herbert A. Watt received 433 votes
For Village Councilman, Group 3 (1 year term)
Robert E. Arnold received 282 votes
H. Mallory Privett, Jr. received 641 votes
For Village Councilman, Group 4:
Thomas R. Bell received
Robert W. Martin received
and,
(2 year term)
502 votes
437 votes
WHEREAS, the Village Council has duly canvassed the returns
of said General Election and finds that the returns of the Inspectors
and Clerks of said election are true and correct tabulations of the
votes cast;
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE VILLAGE COUNCIL
OF NORTH PALM BEACH, FLORIDA:
Section 1. The Village Council finds and declares that the
following are the results of the General Election of March 18, 1969:
For Village Councilman, Group 2:
J. Wilkins Smith received 132 votes
Marjorie N. Stevens received 139 votes
James E. Taylor received 256 votes
Herbert A. Watt received 433 votes
For Village Councilman, Group 3:
Robert E. Arnold received 282 votes
H. Mallory Privett, Jr. received 641 votes
For Village Councilman, Group 4:
Thomas R. Bell received 502 votes
Robert W. Martin received 437 votes
Section 2. That the following candidates are hereby de-
clared to be elected to the respective offices as follows:
Village Councilman, Grodp 3:
H. Mallory Privett, Jr.
Village Councilman, Group 2:
No candidate received a majority of the votes. The
two candidates receiving the greatest number of votes
were: Herbert A. Watt and James E. Taylor.
