RESOLUTION NO. 346-68
A RESOLUTION OF THE VILLAGE COUNCIL OF THE VILLAGE OF NORTH PALM
BEACH, PALM BEACH COUNTY, FLORIDA, REQUESTING THE GOVERNOR, CONSERVATION
DEPARTMENT AND ALL OTHER COGNIZANT DEPARTMENTS OF THE STATE OF FLORIDA TO
CONSIDER THE IMMEDIATE INVESTIGATION OF SUITABLE SHARK CONTROL METHODS IN
THE COASTAL AREAS OF PALM BEACH COUNTY, AND TO PROVIDE FUNDS FOR SAID PRO-
TECTION.
WHEREAS, the few existing public recreational areas for ocean
bathing appear to have become shark infested, and
WHEREAS, the existing beach areas for ocean bathing have become
hazardous and constitute an ever increasing threat to life and limb of citizens
of Palm Beach County, and
WHEREAS, the need for suitable protective measures against this
ever increasing threat is imperative; now,therefore,
BE IT RESOLVED BY THE VILLAGE COUNCIL OF NORTH PALM BEACH, FLORIDA:
Section 1. The Village Council of the Village of North Palm Beach,
Florida hereby urges and requests the State of Florida. to give serious con-
sideration to:
(a) An immediate investigation of methods for shark control.
(b) The immediate appropriation of emergency funds to implement
said protection program.
Section 2. The Village Council of the Village of North Palm Beach,
Florida pledges its wholehearted cooperation to the State of Florida in the
study of this existing problem, and its participation in the establishment of
protective measures.
Section 3. The Village Clerk shall be and is hereby authorized
and directed to deliver forthwith a certified copy of this Resolution to the
Governor of the State of Florida.
PASSED AND ADOPTED THIS 23rd DAY OF APRIL, 1968.
