08-05-1968 VC SP-M MINUTES OF TAX EQUALIZING BOARD OF THE VILLAGE COUNCIL OF NORTH PALM BEACH, FLORIDA HELD MONDAY, AUGUST 5, 1968 Present: Thomas F. Lewis, Mayor_ David C. Bell, Vice-Mayor LV U'~ ~ Ma.yor Lewis called the meeting to order at 7:45 p.m. ROLL CALL `~ ~ a.nd asked the Village Clerk to call the roll, all members V being present except Vice-Mayor Bell. Mayor Lewis asked Council and all persons present to MOMENT OF stand for a moment of silence in observance of the SILENCE IN passing of Vice-Mayor Bell's father. OBSERVANCE OF PASSING OF VICE- MAYOR'S FATHER Mayor Lewis stated that the purpose of the Tax Equal- PURPOSE OF izing Board, as established by Section 3 of Article BOARD VII of 'the Charter, is not to raise or lower assess- ments, but to review those assessments that individuals may feel are out of line so that they may be equalized and brought into line with like properties in the area: Village Clerk read notice of Tax Equalization Board NOTICE OF Meeting which was published in the Post-Times July TAX EQUALIZATION 14, 1968 and posted as required by Charter. BOARD MEETING On motion of Councilman Clark, seconded by .Councilman LOT 24, BLOCK 28, Watt, all present voting a.ye, the assessment of Lot 24, PLAT 2 ASSESSMENT Block 28, Plat 2 (Paul Schmitt) was reduced from REDUCED $20,210 to $18,500. On motion of Councilman Watt, seconded by Councilman LOT 12, BLOCK Clark, all present voting a.ye, Council accepted _ 53, PLAT 6 opinion of Hunnicutt & Associates, Inc. and denied REMAINS AS petition far reduction of assessment of Lot 12, Block ASSESSED 53, Plat 6 (Edwin Koeper). Assessment remains a.t $24,520. On motion of Councilman Everard, seconded by Councilman Watt - 3 to 1, Councilman Clark opposed - Council accepted opinion of Hunnicutt & Associates, Inc. and ' denied petition for reduction of assessment of Lots 202, 205 and 206, Palm Beach-Lake Worth Estates (Elmer Oest). Assessment remains at $9,200 for each lot. On motion of Councilman Everard, seconded by Councilman Watt, all present voting a.ye, Council concurred with Hunnicutt & Associates, Inc. recommendation that no change in assessment be made on the properties listed below: ASSESSMENT FOR LOTS 202, 205 & 206, PALM BEACH- LAKE WORTH ESTATES REMAINS_Ag $9,200 FOR EACH LOT ASSESSED VALUATION I ON LISTED PROPER- TIES TO REMAIN THE SAME Minutes of Tax Equalizing Board Meeting August 5, 1968 Page two 1. Lot 17, Block 44, Plat 6 (Eugene F. Bie) - $49,690 5. Lot 9, Block 7, Country Club Addition (G. M. Perry) - $41,450 6. Lot 19, Block 2, Country Club Addition (E. J. Ha1lma.n) - $21,260 7. Lot 7, Block 10, Country Club Addition (Pa.ul S. Willey) - $30,110 On motion of Councilman Watt, seconded by Councilman Everard LOT 13, all present voting aye, the assessment of Lot 13, Block BLOCK IO 10, Country Club Addition (P. L. Gould) was reduced from CC ADDN. $34,650 to $33,310, a.s recommended by our appraiser. ASSESSMENT REDUCED On motion of Councilman Clark, seconded by Councilman Watt, LOT 6, BLOCK 1, all present voting aye, the assessment of Lot 6, Block 1, PLAT 4 Plat 4 (George W. Guirguis) was reduced from $15,270 to - ASSESSMENT RE- $14,570, as recommended by our appraiser. _DUCED On motion of Councilman Clark, seconded by Councilman Watt, LOT 12, BLOCK R, all present voting aye, the assessment of Lot 12, Block R, PLAT 4 ASSESS- Plat 4 (Robert D. Watson) wa.s reduced from $14,600 to $14,000, MENT REDUCED as recommended by our appraiser. On motion of Councilman Clark, seconded by Councilman Everard, LOT 22, BLOCK 27, all present voting aye, the assessment of Lot 22, Block 27, PLAT 2 ASSESS- Pla.t 2 (Russell J. Harmon) was reduced from $23,320 to $21;490, MENT REDUCED as recommended by our appraiser. On motion of Councilman Everard, seconded by Councilman C1a.rk, all present voting a.ye, that the assessment of Unit No. 218, Sandpiper Condominium, Palm Beach-Lake Worth Estates (S. Haight) remain as originally assessed ($15,680) and that request for reduction be denied. On motion of Councilman Clark, seconded by Councilman Ever- ard, all present voting a,ye, the assessment of Unit Nc. 202, Sandpiper Condominium, Pa.1m Beach-Lake Worth Estates (Guy W. Pearson) remained as originally assessed ($17,060) a.s recommended by our appraiser. On motion of Councilman Clark, seconded by Councilman Ever- ard all present voting aye, that the first two items Council a.eted upon re personal property tax be stricken from the minutes of this meeting and that they be reviewed by the Ta.x Assessor. On motion of Councilman Clark, seconded by Councilman Watt, all present voting aye, the Tax Equalizing Board wa.s re- cessed a,t 9:15 p.m. and will reconvene on August 27, 1968 at 7:30 p.m. in the Village Ha11.
