MINUTES OF THE SPECIAL EMERGENCY SESSION

ROLL CALL
Mayor Manuel called the meeting to order at 6:02 p.m. All members of Council were present,
except Councilman Eissey, who had a meeting conflict. All members of staff were present,
except the Village Attorney.
RESOLUTION 2008-54 ADOPTED — DECLARING A STATE OF LOCAL EMERGENCY
Councilman Hernacki moved that Resolution 2008-54 entitled
A RESOLUTION OF THE VILLAGE COUNCIL OF THE VILLAGE OF NORTH PALM BEACH,
FLORIDA, DECLARING A STATE OF LOCAL EMERGENCY; PROVIDING FOR CONFLICTS;
AND PROVIDING FOR AN EFFECTIVE DATE
be adopted. Vice Mayor Norris seconded the motion.
Mr. Knight advised that the state of local emergency declaration will remain in effect for a period
of seven days, unless sooner rescinded by the Governor or the Village Council. Mr. Knight
expressed his intent to ask Council to convene as soon as possible after Tropical Storm Fay
passes our area in order to rescind the declaration. Mr. Knight explained that adoption of the
resolution gives the Village the ability to recoup any losses through FEMA. Additionally, all
offices will be closed Tuesday, August 19th for Village business; however, essential personnel will
be called in to work.
Mrs. Teal read Resolution 2008-54 in its entirety. Thereafter, the motion to adopt Resolution
2008-54 passed unanimously.
The Budget Workshop previously scheduled for 8/19/2008 was cancelled.
ADJOURNMENT
With no further business to come before the Council, the meeting adjourned at 6:11 p.m.
