The Mayor also read a proclamation, declaring the vaeek of MAYOR December 1st as "Civil Air Patrol Meek" on the occasion of CAL!,S LOR the CAP's 24th anniversary. The Manager was instructed to determine the -~ cost of materials that would be needed, as well as the _.__-_ - amount of time that Village employees tivould be needed to help, should the Council decide to enter afloat as a muni- cipal project. The Council also agreed to set aside a contingency .- fund of approximately X300 for the purpose of providing an adds- tional signal head westerlyy toward Lighthouse Drive and a left- turn green arrow on U. S. #l, if. approval for these additions. can be secured from th© State Road Department. The Manager was instructed to investigate the possibility VILT-,AGE of having a service contract arrange-d. vaith a local elec- ~_ ~S - - trical contractor for service on the various traffic signals CON`.I'RACT within the Village. - - - - •' Mayor Lewis instructed the Manager to arrange a meeting with BTRA~ NG the Director of Public Safety to discuss bicycle training programs not only for children attending the Village Ele-__ ~O mentary School but also. for Village children attending schools outside of the Village. On motion of Vice-Mayor Bell, seconded by_Councilman ~Natt, TAX ROLL =_" all members voting aye,-the 1965 Tax Roll cans adjusted to ADJUSTEI' include a re-assessment which had been made by the Tax (AISr;TISS, - Assessor but never entered in the official record, This _ _1-62-YC'A) adjustment was on Lot 1, Block 62, YCA, Mrs. Julia Ameiss, _- - ovaner, with the assessment being rc<luced from X22,870 to __ X19,150. The Tax Collector vans instructed to make this change on the official 1965 Tax Roll and also to correct the minutes of the Tax Equalizing Board accordingly. Vico-Mayor Bell recommended to the Council that the Village VZLLAGI; Ffall be closed one afternoon each week and. remain open a ~~ half-day on Saturdays for the convenience of those persons ..HOURS wishing to conduct business on Saturdays, The Manager vans D~CSCUS~D instructed to study this suggestion and return with a recom- mendation to the Council. The Council spent some time discussing ways and means of Si'EEDI_dG _, curbing excessive speeding on Lighthouse Drive. A resident OiT LIG~iT- of that area, Charles Barnes, cited numerous instances of H~~USE DR. speeding vahich goes on whenever a police patrol car is not S'CUDIFD on the street. The Council agreed to establish Lighthouse Drive as a '°No Passing Zone" thoroughfare from U. S. #1 to Prosperity Farms Road, in an effort to make the street safer _ for pedestrians and vehicular traffic alike. -The Manager was instructed to have appropriate double yelloca lines painted on the roadway to indicate the "No Passing Zone" indication.- - Following other statements from the public, on motion of ~-DJOUIN- - Councilman Vdatt, seconded by Councilman Duncan, the meeting NiDNT of the Council was adjjourncd at 11:05 p.m. until Tuesday, November 23, 1965, at Se00 p.r~.
