HomeMy WebLinkAbout12-10-1963 VC REG-M• • • • Present: MINUTES OF A REGULAR MEETING of the VILLAGE COUNCIL OF NORTH PALM BEACH held December 10, 1963 Warren P. Tatoul, Mayor Louis J. Aiello, Jr., Vice -Mayor Harbld W. Beery, Councilman Thomas R. Bell, Councilman Frank J. Hahn, Councilman C. Robert Burns, Village Attorney Frank R. Spence, Village Manager and Clerk Mayor Tatoul called the meeting to order at 8:00 p.m. and requested the Clerk call the roll. All members were, present. Mayor Tatoul requested the Clerk to read the minutes of a Special Meeting held October 22, 1963, a Regular Meeting held November 12, 1963, and a Special Meeting held November 19, 1963, The minutes of November 12, 1963, page 2, were corrected to show that thertmotion appointing an auditing firm was seconded by Councilman Beery. All minutes were approved as corrected. The Village Treasurer read the Treasurer's Report and financial state- ment for the month of November, 1963. On motion of Councilman Hahn, seconded by Councilman Bell, all members voting aye, proposed Resolution #182 entitled A RESOLUTION OF THE VILLAGE COUNCIL OF THE VILLAGE OF NORTH PALM BEACH, FLORIDA, EXPRESSING APPRECIATION TO WARREN P. TATOUL. was adopted. After Councilman Hahn had called certain changes and corrections to the Council's attention and these being mutually acceptable, on motion of Councilman Beery, seconded by Councilman Bell, all members voting aye, proposed Resolution #183 entitled A RESOLUTION OF THE VILLAGE COUNCIL OF THE VILLAGE OF NORTH PALM BEACH, FLORIDA, AUTHORIZING THE MAYOR AND CLERK TO EXECUTE A CERTAIN CONTRACT. was adopted. On motion of Vice -Mayor Aiello, seconded by Councilman Hahn, all members voting aye, proposed Resolution #184 entitled A RESOLUTION OF THE VILLAGE COUNCIL OF THE VILLAGE OF NORTH PALM BEACH, FLORIDA, CONCERNING A VILLAGE BEAUTIFICATION COMMITTEE. was adopted. On motion of Councilman Hahn, seconded by Vice -Mayor Aiello, all members voting aye, proposed Resolution #185 entitled A RESOLUTION OF THE VILLAGE COUNCIL OF THE VILLAGE OF NORTH PALM BEACH, FLORIDA, AUTHORIZING AND DIRECTING THE EXERCISE OF A CERTAIN OPTION. was adopted. The Village Attorney examined the Surety Bonds of Frank R. Spence, Village Manager and Treasurer, for $100,000., and of Thomas R. Bell, Village Tax Collector, for $50,000., and stated that they appeared to be legal in form as presented and recommended that the Council receive, approve and file said bonds. On motion of Councilman Hahn, seconded by Councilman Beery, all members voting aye, the recommendation was adopted. The Clerk read a letter from North Palm Beach Utilities, Inc., request- ing that the Council grant two (2) gix-foot easements acorss the crainage canal bordering the Village in order to serve to the new St. Clare's Catholic Church on Prosperity Farms Road. After some discussion with the architect of the facility, Mr. Robson, the Council felt that it did not have enough pertinent information at this time and requested Mr. Robson supply such information to the Council asesoon as possible. a • Minutes of Council Meeting held December 10, 1963. The Clerk read a letter form the Senior Social Club signed by Mr. Arthur Mader requesting the Council reconsider its decision not to spend money to buy heaters for the Senior Social Clubhouse at this time until the financial position for the year is determined. After mush discussion, the Council re -affirmed its position. The floor was thrown open to public discussion and comments and several citizens spoke on various subjects. There being no further business to come before the Council, on motion of Councilman Hahn, seconded by Vice -Mayor Aiello, all members voting aye, the meeting was adjourned at 9:45 p.m. Village Clerk
