VILLAGE COUNCIL OF NORTH PALM BEACH

April 10, 1962

Mayor Thomas called the meeting to order at 8:05 p.m. and requested
the Clerk call the roll.
The oath of office was administered Councilman elect Frank J. Hahn.
Mayor Thomas requested the Clerk read the minutes of a regular
meeting of the Village Council held March 13, 1962; the minutes of a
special meeting of the Village Council held March 21, 1962; and the minutes
of the organizational meeting of the Village Council held April 2, 1962.
The minutes were approved as read.
The Treasurer reported the receipts and expenditures for the month
of February, 1962, by the following monthly audit reports:

A public hearing was conducted regarding a request the Village
Zoning Ordinance be amended so as to permit the establishment and operation
of funeral homes in areas zoned CIA Limited Commercial District. The re-
quested zoning amendment was discussed, statements from the public were
heard, and written statements received by the Village Manager were read.
At the conclusion of the public hearing, on motion of Vice -Mayor
Bowman, seconded by Councilman Aiello, all members voting aye, the request
to amend the zoning ordinance so as to permit the conduct of funeral home
business in areas zoned CIA was denied at this time.
The Village Manager advised the Council a letter had been received
from the Faith Lutheran Church outlining its intention of expand its present
parking facility and to landscape the new area.
The Village Clerk read a letter addressed to the Council received
from the Junior Woman's Club of the North Palm Beaches supporting fluorid-
ation of water as it concerns dental health.
The Village Manager was instructed to advise the organization the
water supply system within the Village is owned and operated by North Palm
Beach Utilities, Inc., a private corporation, and suggest they direct their
letter to this firm.
The matter of awarding a contract for the construction of proposed
facilities at the North Palm Beach Country Club for which notices of award
were approved on April 2 was discussed.
On motion of Councilman Aiello, seconded by Councilman Hahn, all
members voting aye, proposed Resolution #132 entitled
A RESOLUTION OF THE VILLAGE COUNCIL OF
THE VILLAGE OF NORTH PALM BEACH, PALM
BEACH COUNTY, FLORIDA, AUTHORIZING THE
MAYOR AND CLERK TO SIGN CERTAIN CONTRACTS.
was adopted. This Resolution #132 authorized the Mayor and Village Clerk
to sign a contract with Thomas Hodges Construction Company to construct
the Country Club building and swimming pool facilities for a contract price
of $285,600. The Thomas Hodges Construction Company was the low bidder
for this project.
On motion of Councilman Hahn, seconded by Councilman Aiello, all
members voting aye, the list of Country Club accounts payable was approved
for payment.
Two proposed plats (Golf Course Addition, Yacht Club Marina) were
received for Village Council consideration. The plats were reviewed,=a
request made that copies be forwarded the Village Attorney, and that the
Village Engineer furnish certain grading and bulkheading information prior
to the next Village Council meeting.

The Village Manager stated a verbal request had been received
from the Riviera Beach Kiwanis Club requesting the loan of several
Golf Course electric carts on May 2 in conjunction with its annual
benefit golf tournament to be conducted at the Seminole Golf Course.
A motion to grant the request was withdrawn and the Village
Manager instructed to advise the Club to restate their request in
letter form.
On motion of Councilman Tatoul, seconded by Councilman Aiello,
all members voting aye, the meeting was adjourned to 8:00 p.m.,
Tuesday, April 17, at the Village Hall.
