TENNIS CENTER GRAND OPENING
On Saturday, October 3, 2009, the Village of
North Palm Beach celebrated the grand open-
ing of our new Tennis Center. Mayor David Nor-
ris welcomed guests and thanked all those in-
volved in the project, including David Brooks En-
terprises and Peacock + Lewis Architects. Cer-
tain features of the new Tennis Center includ-
ing the covered porches, sidewalks, and drink-
ing fountains were funded through a Florida
Recreation Development Assistance Program
Grant.
The new Tennis Center includes a 2000 square
foot clubhouse, a courtside veranda, a meeting
room, and a fully equipped pro shop. The 10
lighted Har-tru tennis courts have been completely refurbished.
Tennis supervisor Jackie Wheeler, Head Professional Kim Franklin, and Direc-
tor of ACE Academy Ron Rainyn provide programs that include private lessons,
group clinics for adults and children, special events, children's camps, team ten-
nis for men, women, & seniors and much more. For more information, please
call 626-6515.

NORTH PALM BEACH CELEBRATES CITY GOVERNMENT WEEK
North Palm Beach celebrated City Government Week, October 18-23, 2009 by hosting a third grade class from St.
Clare School at its Regular Session on Thursday, October 22, 2009. Unlike other council meetings, which routinely take
place during evening hours, this meeting was held at 9:15 a.m. on October 22, 2009 to allow 48 third grade students
from St. Clare School in North Palm Beach to participate as part of their study of local government. The children are
taught by Ms. Pam McDowell and Ms. Louise Waterfield. Because city government is the government closest to most
citizens, and the one with the most direct daily impact upon its residents, municipal officials feel that they have a re-
sponsibility to pass along their understanding of public services and their benefits.

ADOPT A FAMILY
The Village of North Palm Beach Department of
Public Safety is holding the 3rd annual holiday pro-
gram to adopt a family in need. Our goal is to offer
assistance to legitimately needy families that live in
or are associated with this community.
We are looking for residents to partner with us in
this endeavor. Any contribution that you make will
only be used for the identified families and will not
go toward any administrative costs.
Thank you for your consideration of this project.
Together we can make a difference in the lives of
those that are less fortunate.
For more infor-
mation contact
Sergeant Angela
Dallesandro at
561-841-3300 or
Susanne Crews
at 561-841-3376.
FIRE RESCUE
Now that holiday season is in full swing, your Fire Rescue
wants to remind you to be careful in your choice of decora-
tions. A few simple steps can help you make this time of year
safe and enjoyable for everyone.
• Never leave candles burning when unattended. Better yet,
use “flameless” candles.
• Make sure to use the proper light string for the location.
Not all light strings, or extension cords, are rated for out-
door use. Check the UL rating prior to use.
• Be careful not to put too many light strings and electrical
decorations on the same circuit. It is easy to overheat a
circuit without causing the breaker to trip resulting in a fire.
• If you are decorating a tree, we recommend flame retar-
dant artificial ones, but if you must have the real thing
keep it well watered and discard it at the first signs of dry-
ing out. Real trees burn at an astonishingly fast rate. In
either case, turn off the lights when leaving the house or
before going to bed.
Remember, if you have any problems or questions
we’re always here to help. Dial 911 in any emergency
and 848-2525 for anything else.

Country Club
FROM THE GOLF SHOP
If you haven’t already heard, in November the Village
was privileged to welcome Mr. David Kass, Head Golf
Professional to the North Palm Beach Country Club as your new
Director of Golf Operations. David is a Class “A” PGA member and comes to
us by way of the Lost Tree Club where he served as the Tournament Director and Assistant Profes-
sional. David served as the 1st Assistant Professional at Clubs such as Canterbury and the Jupiter
Hills Club both of which are nationally ranked among the “Top 100 Private Golf Clubs.”
David has also been fortunate to have served under renowned greats as Master Professional Bill Davis and Brian
Peaper to name just a couple. David has experienced both resort and high-end private golf clubs working in multiple
and diverse divisions and at all levels of service delivery. David’s experience includes all aspects of golf club admini-
stration, merchandising, instruction, and tournament coordination. The Village looks forward to taking the NPBCC to
the next level with our “new” Head Golf Professional and Director of Golf Operations David Kass.
With the holidays right around the corner let the Golf Shop at North Palm Beach Country Club be your one stop for
finding that perfect present for the avid golfer. We are fully stocked with some fabulous Men’s and Women’s apparel,
gloves, balls, hats and can special order any equipment that you may want. We also offer gift cards so the golfer in
your life can choose how they want to spend it…towards rounds of golf, equipment or merchandise. The staff in the
Golf Shop can help you find that perfect gift.
As we enter our fourth season, your superintendent Shane and his crew have the course in excellent condition. Bring
your out-of-town holiday guests and show them what a wonderful municipal facility we have. Remember NPB Resi-
dents can take advantage of the Resident Cards for $15 which gives you 15% off your green and cart fees. We still
have memberships available and would love to have you become part of a special club where the focus is on customer
service, a great pace of play, and a wonderful 18-hole golf course! The staff here at The North Palm Beach Country
Club would like to wish you and your family a safe and Happy Holiday and best wishes for the new year!
