Ordinance 1988-010 FEB Adopts Standard Plumbing Code 1985 EditionORDINANCE N0. 10-88 AN ORDINANCE OF THE VILLAGE OF NORTH PALM BEACH, FLORIDA 1 AMENDING CHAPTER 22 OF THE VILLAGE OF NORTH PALM BEACH CODE, THE PLUMBING CODE FOR THE VILLAGE, SPECIFICALLY THE STANDARD PLUMBING CODE, 1985 EDITION. BE IT ORDAINED BY THE VILLAGE COUNCIL OF NORTH PALM BEACH, FLORIDA. Section 1. The first paragraph of Section 22-17 of the Village of North Palm Beach Code is hereby amended by adding the following: CHAPTER 2 DEFINITIONS 202 - DEFINITIONS OF TEfUiS LEAD FREE PIPE AND FITTINGS - containing not more than 8.0 percent lead LEAD FREE SOLDER AND FLUX - containing not more than 0.2 percent lead. CHAPTER 5 MATERIALS -QUALITY AND WEIGHT 502 - SPECIAL MATERIALS 502.1 LEAD See Table 500. Sheet lead shall not be less than the following: 1. For safe pans - not less than 4 psf coated with an asphalt paint or equivalent. 2. For flashings of vent terminals - not leass than 3 psf. 3. Lead bends and lead traps shall not be less than 1/8 inch wall thickness. 4. Any pipe, solder or flux which is used in the installation or repair of arty plumbing in a residential or non-residential facility providing water for human consumption, shall be Lead free with not more than 8.0% lead in pipes and fittings. This does not apply to leaded points necessary for the repair of cast iron pipes. Chapter 6 JOINTS AND CONNECTIONS 602 - TYPES OF JOINTS 602.4 - Soldered points for tubing shall be made with approved fittings. Surfaces to be soldered shall be cleaned bright and all burrs shall be removed and the tubing shall be returned to full bore. The points shall be properly fluxed and made with approved solder (See 502.1 (4) and 603.6). All solder and flux used in the installation or repair of water supply or distribution systems shall be lead free. CHAPTER .12 WATER SUPPLY AND DISTRIBUTION 1205 - WATER SUPPLY SYSTEM AND WATER SERVICE PIPING 1 1205.1 - MATERIAL UNDERGROUND - SUBSTITUTE THE FOLLOWING: 1205.1.1 - Materials for underground water supply system and water service shall be a minimum of Type "M" copper tube, brass pipe, polybutylene (PB) pressure pipe that meets the following Standards: P.B. - 2110, ASTM - D2666 - 250 PSI @ 73.4 degress and AWWA - C902-78 G-134, all to be installed with the approved fittings. Schedule 40 galvanized steel pipe may be used only in areas where the water is not corrosive and with the approval of the Building Official. Water pipe with more than 8.0% lead shall not be used. 1205.1.2 - Underground piping for lawn sprinklers and irrigation systems may be 194 Standard Water Tube, CA alloy 122 4later Distribution Tubing that meets ASTM Specifications, B 447-74 or B 251-72, cast iron pressure pipe, Schedule 40 galvanized steel pipe, pressure rated 160 PSI PVC or pressure rated 150 polybuthylene plastic piping. 1205.1.3 - All pipe fittings, solder and flux used in the installation of water supply systems shall be lead free. EXCEPTION: Leaded joints may be used for the repair of existing cast iron pipes. 1210 - WATER DISTRIBUTION PIPE, TUBING AND FITTINGS 1 1210.1.4 - All pipe fittings, solder and flux used in the installation of of water distribution systems shalt be lead free. EXCEPTION: Leaded joints may be used for the repair of existing cast iron pipes. Section 2. This Ordinance shall take effect immediately upon passage.
