VILLAGE COUNCIL OF NORTH PALM BEACH
HELD APRIL 12, 1960

called the meeting to order at 8:00 p.m. and requested the Clerk

Village Council held March 8, 1960. The minutes were approved

Mayor Thomas discussed the matter of conmmnity planning and expressed a desire
that a study be made of future needs of the village. He appointed a planning committee
consisting of the Council members and the Village Manager with Councilman Hahn, Chairman,
to study the matter.
The Village Clerk read a request Plum the Riviera Beach Youth Athletic Associa-
tion for permission to conduct a village -wide fund raising day to assist in uniforming
and equipping area "Pony League" baseball teams. 0n motion of Councilman Newell,
seconded by Vice Mayor Young, all members voting aye, it was voted the village contribute
$25.00 to the Association with a request the money be allocated to provide equipment
for North Palm Beach boys participating in the program.
On motion of Councilman Hahn, seconded by Councilman Newell, all members voting
aye, a request from Sun Benches, Inc., for permission to locate advertising benches
within the village was denied.
The village manager discussed the incongruity of several street names within the
village and requested the Council consider changing the names of these streets. Mayor
Thomas appointed Councilman Aiello, Chairman, Councilman Newell, and Vice -Mayor Young
to study the matter and male appropriate recommendations to the Council.

On motion of Vice -Mayor Young, seconded by Councilman Hahn, all members voting aye,
proposed Resolution #79 appointing Councilman Newell Village Tax Collector was adopted.
The oath of office was administered the Tax Collector by the Village Clerk.
The matter of a public hearing concerned with amending certain sections of the
zoning ordinance was discussed. In view of the fact the owner of the land area involved
was unable to be present, the hearing was postponed to the next regular Council meeting.
The matter of adopting rules and regulations for the operation of the boat area
was discussed. The village attorney was instructed to prepare an appropriate resolution
for Council consideration.
Representatives of the North Palm Beach Little League requested the Council consider
an appropriation to assist the group in providing a baseball program within the village
this summer. On motion of Vice -Mayor Young, seconded by Councilman Newell, all members
voting aye, an appropriation to the Little League organization in the amount of $750.00
was approved.
On motion of Vice -Mayor Young, seconded by Councilman Aiello, all members voting
aye, the list of accounts payable was approved for payment.
There being no further business to come before the Council, the meeting was
adjourned at 9:35 P.m. -

under the laws of the State of Florida, personally appeared EMERY J.
NEWELL who took and subscribed before me the following oath:
I, the above named EMERY J. NEWELL , do solemnly swear that I will support
and protect and defend the Constitution and government of the United States
and of the State of Florida, against all enemies, domestic or foreign, and
that I will bear true faith, loyalty and allegiance to the same, and that
1 am entitled to hold office under the Constitution of the United States
and the Constitution and Laws of the State of Florida, and that I will
faithfully perform all the duties of the office of Tax Collector of the
Village of North Palm Beach, Florida, upon which I am about to enter, so
help me God.
