HomeMy WebLinkAbout10-22-1956 VC REG-MMINUTES OF MEETING OF VILLAGE COUNCIL OF THE VILLAGE OF NORTH PALM BEACH, FLORIDA HELD ON THE 22nd DAY OF OCTOBER, 1956 * * * * * The regular meeting of the Village Council of "The, Village of North Palm Beach, Florida" was held in the North Palm Beach Country Clubhouse, in such Village at 3 o'clock, P.M., on the 22nd day of October, 1956 * * * The following Councilmen were present and answered the Roll Call: ROLL RICHARD E. ROSS JOHN A. SCHWENCKE CALL JAY H. WHITE CHARLES A CUNNINGHAM ABSENTEES QUORUM PRESENT MINUTES NEW BUSINESS * * * Mayor Cunningham reported that Councilman John A. Mac Arthur is out of the state at the present time. * * * * * It appeared a quorum was present, whereupon, by acclamation Mayor Cunningham assumed the Chairmanship of the meeting and he asked ROBERT C. TUFFORD, VILLAGE CLERK, to take the minutes of the meeting. T #* * * The Chairman asked the Village Clerk to read the minutes of the pre- vious meeting, which was done, and upon motion by Mayor Cunningham, seconded by Vice -Mayor Ross, and upon Roll Call, all Councilmen present voted aye, and the minutes were adopted. * * * ORD. #2 Ordinance #2 entitled: AN ORDINANCE GRANTING TO THE FLORIDA POWER & FIRST LIGHT COMPANY, ITS SUCCESSORS AND ASSIGNS, AN READING ELECTRIC FRANCHISE, AND IMPOSING PROVISIONS AND CONDITIONS RELATING THERETO, ORD. #5 SECOND READING was read in full by the Village Clerk and after thorough discussion by the Council, motion was made by Vice -Mayor Ross, seconded by Council- man White that Ordinance #2 Re: Franchise to Florida Power & Light be studied further. Upon Roll Call, all Councilmen present voted aye, and the motion was adopted, • * * * * Ordinance #5, as ammended, was read in full by the Village Clerk, and Councilman Schwencke, seconded by Vice -Mayor Ross, moved that Ordinance #5 (see ORD. BK. 1, page 10 ) entitled: AN ORDINANCE OF THE VILLAGE COUNCIL OF THE VILLAGE OF NORTH PALM BEACH, FLORIDA, GRANTING AN EXCLUSIVE FRANCHISE TO NORTH PALM BEACH UTILITIES, INC., A FLORIDA CORPORATION, TO OPERATE AND MAINTAIN A WATER SYSTEM AND SEWAGE COLTFCTION AND DISPOSAL SYSTEM IN THE VIT,TAGE OF NORTH PALM BEACH, FLORIDA SETTING FORTH CONDITIONS AND PRIVILEGES ACCOMPANY*: ING THE GRANT OF FRANCHISE: PROVIDING FOR RATES AND CHARGES, AND FOR SERVICE STANDARDS: PROHIBITING THE USE OF INDIVIDUAL SEWAGE DISPOSAL SYSTEMS AND/OR SEPTIC TANKS WITHIN THE VILLAGE LIMITS: PROVIDING FOR SEWER CONNECTIONS AND PENALTIES FOR TEE VIOLATION OF SUCH PROVISIONS; AND FOR OTHER PURPOSES. be adopted. Upon Roll Call, all Councilmen present voted aye, and Ordinance #5 was adopted. • RES. #6 • • • MINUTES OF MEETING OF VILLAGE COUNCIL OF THE VILLAGE OF NORTH PALM BEACH, FLORIDA HELD ON THE 22nd DAY OF OCTOBER, 1956. (CONTINUED) • ;: * Mayor Cunninghatp, seconded by Vice -Mayor Ross, moved the adoption of Resolution #6 ( See RES. BK. 1, page (o ) entitled: A RESOLUTION OF THE VILLAGE COUNCIL OF "THE VILLAGE OF NORTH PALM BEACH, FLORIDA," THAT MR. ALBERT G. DUDDEN BE APPOINTED CHIEF OF POLICE FOR '}THE VILLAGE OF NORTH PALM BEACH, FLORIDA," EFFECTIVE NOVEMBER 1, 1956, AT AN ANNUAL SALARY OF $5200.00 Upon Roll Call, all Councilmen present voted aye, and Resolution #6 was duly adopted, * * Councilman White presented the Council with a letter from Bev Smith Ford, Inc. submitting a bid of $2,522.17 for a 1957 Ford, Country Sedan Station Wagon, for the use of Police Chief Dudden in carrying out his duties and advised the Council to accept this bid. Upon Roll Call, all Councilmen present voted aye, and said bid was accepted. * * * Councilman White reported to the Council that he has been able to secure permission from the Riviera Beach Police Department for the use of their transmitting facilities, to transmit Police and Fire emergency calls at a monthly charge of $25.00. * * * * There being no further business, the meeting was adjourned to 3 o'clock P.M., Monday, November 12th, 1956, to meet atthe North Palm Beach Country Clubhouse.
